About the role

SBHG is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Asset Team as a Surveyor. In this role, you will act as a single point of contact for the project management of annual planned and cyclical maintenance work, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and contract manage external supply chain partners to ensure delivery in accordance with SBHG operational plans, contract requirements, and statutory obligations.

Key Responsibilities

As an Assets Surveyor, you will work with other members of the Assets Team and Finance Team to manage and report on annual planned and cyclical maintenance budgets. Your work will be invaluable in helping us to better understand our stock and improve our stock intelligence, ensuring our homes provide customers with great places to live. Your efforts to ensure that the data in asset management database is based on the actual condition will enable more reliable forecasting of the funding needed to ensure that SBHG owned dwellings are maintained to the required standard.

As a customer-focused individual, you will work to a consistently high quality and adopt prescribed procedures to ensure compliance with SBHG’s policies, strategies, and relevant codes and legislation. You will be required to gain access to properties to inspect them, noting the condition of the various building components (roof, windows, kitchens, and bathrooms, etc.), identify building defects, and recommend repairs as necessary.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will need to have strong IT skills, knowledge and understanding of Section 20 leasehold consultation, managing contracts including budget management, knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues affecting residential properties preferred (e.g. asbestos) and understanding of construction health and safety legislation (including CDM 2015) is essential. 

Also, experience in stock condition surveying, inspecting domestic properties and blocks, ideally within the social housing sector. You should also have knowledge of using handheld devices (Tablet PC) and be able to undertake HHSRS assessments of properties. A full current driving license and your own vehicle are required, as well as a reasonable level of physical fitness to climb ladders to access loft spaces.
